1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 egg for the cookie batter
1 egg white mixed with 1/8 t. water to brush on cookies before baking.
1/2 t. almond extract
1 t. cream of tartar
1 c. butter, room temperature
1 t. vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups, flour
1 t. baking soda
top cookies before baking with 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts mixed with a teaspoon of sugar..
- Mix throughly powdered sugar, butter and almond and vanilla extracts. I use my stand mixer.
- Stir in dry ingredients until completely mixed in.
- Refrigerate 2 – 3 hours.
- Roll out and cut with your favorite cookie cutters — my mom’s choice is always a star.
- Brush with the egg white/water mixture, sprinkle with finely chopped walnut mixture.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 7 – 8 minutes.
- Eat ’em up!!!
