Mark’s friend Gail from Sonoma brought these to his going away party, and I thought I was going to die — they were THAT good! Seriously delicious, easy to make — these are your answer to holiday potlucks, quick meals, and the ultimate appetizer!
Ingredients
- Two package of 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls, sliced in half (tops and bottoms)
- 1 pound cooked Black Forest ham (any kind really), thinly sliced
- 3/4 pound Swiss cheese, (I like Alpine lace)thinly sliced, but Havarti works really well too
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 2 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons Worcesteshire sauce
- splash of white wine
- 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper, or to taste
Directions
- Slice top from rolls (do not separate individually) and place bottom in baking pan
- Fold slice of ham to fit on each uncut roll
- Layer with cheese
- Replace top
- Combine butter, poppy seeds, mustard, Worcestershire, wine, onion powder in a sauce pan
- Drizzle over rolls. Refrigerate until butter is firm or overnight
- Cover with foil
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until cheese melts
- Uncover and bake for 2 additional minutes to crisp the tops
- Optional: you may slice rolls after baking for easier serving
- Serve warm or cold.
